About Air Academy Bands
Air Academy High School has had a band since its opening in 1957. Beginning with less than 20 members, the Air Academy band program has grown into one of the most respected in the state of Colorado.
“The mission of the Air Academy High School Band Program is to provide a quality music education to all students. Our objective is building quality by focusing on the individual performer. Concert bands, marching band, jazz bands, small ensembles, and solo experience leads to a well-rounded player. Additionally, through the band program, students will gain a sense of belonging, teamwork, time management, dedication, self-discipline, leadership, cooperation and responsibility.”
Air Academy’s marching band has been a CBA State Finalist every year since 1989 and has been awarded as Colorado State Champions 11 times within the last two decades (see a complete list of Marching Band Awards).

Air Academy’s concert bands consistently receive high ratings, including multiple Superior with Distinction ratings from the CBA State Concert Band Festival.
Air Academy also offers several jazz classes, including the Advanced Jazz Ensemble which has been selected multiple times to be showcased at the Colorado Music Educator’s Association Conference. All jazz ensembles consistently receive Superior ratings.
