2024 Band and Guard Camp
Things to know/Schedule:
Two weeks, back-to-back: July 22-25 and July 29-August 1, 2024
All students participating in band and guard for the 2024-25 school year should plan to attend. Students will be learning music, marching techniques, and more.
TIME: 8am-4pm. Arrive as early as 7:30am; practice begins at 8am sharp!
Note: Drivers should bring their DBIDS or student IDs every day. If you need help with access to AAHS, please click HERE.
Students:
All students should WEAR:
- Sunscreen
- Hat and sunglasses
- White/light colored shirt with school dress-code appropriate athletic clothing
- Good wicking socks
All students should BRING:
- Student IDs (even one from Middle School; the guards may check it)
- Lunch and snacks
- WATER! Get a large water jug and personalize it (they all tend to look the same)
- Personal medications
- Your instrument and extra supplies (reeds, valve oil, slide grease, etc.)
- Do not bring wooden or expensive instruments, rent them instead!
- NOTE: BARITONE, TROMBONE, MELLOPHONE (FRENCH HORN) and CONTRA (TUBA) PLAYERS: FOR MARCHING BAND, You will use Air Academy horns for your marching instruments. Tubas and baritone/trombone players should bring a mouthpiece if you have one.
- Bring your music and drill every day
- GUARD: check with your director for your specialized to-bring list
- Positive attitude!! Your personal and section/band’s success depends on it

Tips:
- Please don’t be late. Drop the kids off as early at 7:30am, practice begins at 8:00-sharp!
- There is not a parent sign-in for you to complete. Students will report to stretch block in the bus parking lot at 8!
- When picking up or dropping students off, for the safety of everyone, please watch for pedestrians, follow the band parking lot traffic flow (see below), and park vehicles only in designated places. DO NOT block the end of the walkway near the band room.
- Please do not drive into the bus parking lot (this is our rehearsal area).

USAFA Access:
All parents and guardians of freshmen/new students for the school year at Air Academy HS will need to obtain a DBIDS (Defense Biometrics Identification System) card to gain access to the Air Force Academy.
To get your DBIDS you will need to go to the Base Pass & Registration office located at the South Gate entrance off of N. Academy Blvd. You’ll be able to get your DBIDS towards the end of May.
Base Pass is open Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30AM-3:45PM. You’ll need to have your driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and vehicle registration. They will run a quick background check, take your photo and issue your ID card. This process could take upwards of 30 minutes to complete.
