Marching Competitions and Parades

attendance at all Marching Competitions and PARADES is MANDATORY for all band/guard students

2020 Fall Marching Band Competitions (Hours are estimated, accurate details provided when available) *updated 2/6/2020  **subject to change

• Legacy Marching Festival 9/26/2020 8:00am-1:00am
• Douglas County Marching Festival 10/3/2020  8:00am-1:00am
• BOA Flagstaff, Arizona   10/9/2020 – 10/11/2020 *more info soon*
• CBA South Regional Liberty High School 10/14/2020 -3:00pm-10:00pm
• CBA State Championships USAFA  10/24/2020 -8:00am-1:00am

BAND/Guard STUDENTS will generally need to be at the school EARLY (by 7:30-8 am of a contest day) depending on the destination (watch your weekly email, the website, and the band FB page for updated information.)

    • We cheer for all of the bands!

    • Two parts to most band competitions:

    • • • “PRELIMS”

          • • all bands compete in their school category (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A or 5A).  We are 4A.  
          • • After all bands have competed at PRELIMS, they have a Drum Major Retreat, where all the drum majors line up and do their school salute.
          • • • Places are then announced
    • “FINALS”
      • • After the stadium is cleared for a break, the finalist bands will compete in the order dictated at Prelim awards (it’s usually last-place points-wise to first-place order (AAHS is usually one of the last bands to perform)
      • • After all bands have competed, they will either have a full retreat (each band comes out to the field) or a Drum Major Only Retreat
      • • They will then announce placements, caption awards and 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners.
      • AT THE END OF COMPETITION, BAND/GUARD STUDENTS will  be bused back to AAHS — they will ALL be expected to help unload, put away equipment, and clean the buses before they are dismissed.
