Band & Guard Camp 2021

BRING YOUR STUDENT ID (even if it’s an 8th grade ID)
IF YOU ARE A DRIVER, BRING YOUR DBIDS CARD/MILITARY ID
WHAT TO WEAR:
- * A HAT & SUNGLASSES!!! *REQUIRED*
- Comfortable sneakers
- Weather-appropriate, School dress-code appropriate athletic clothing (with white/light colored shirt)
- Good wicking socks
WHAT TO BRING
- YOUR STUDENT ID (even if it’s from middle school. Gate guards will check it!)
- your instrument and music (do not bring wooden or expensive instruments, rent them instead!)
***NOTE TO BARITONE (TROMBONE) MELLOPHONE(FRENCH HORN) and CONTRA(TUBA) PLAYERS: FOR MARCHING BAND We will use Air Academy horns for your marching instruments. Tubas and baritone/trombone players should bring a mouthpiece if you have one. ***
- Have extra reeds, slide oil, etc. on hand
- LARGE water jug – personalize it as they all tend to look the same and…DRINK YOUR WATER
- SACK LUNCH & Snacks
- Sunscreen (WEAR IT!)
- Personal or prescription medications you may need
- Positive attitude!! Your personal and team success depends on it.
AFTER THE FIRST REHEARSAL— ALSO BRING YOUR MUSIC AND/OR DRILL WITH YOU EVERY DAY
DON’T FORGET OUR BAND PICNIC! Be sure to plan to attend to learn more about the program, the Marching Season and School Year, sign up to use your talents to volunteer, and MORE! *Thursday, AUGUST 5th: 4-6:30pm in AAHS Cafeteria. Please see our parent email/ Tuesday News for more information.
*Don’t be late. Drop the kids off as early at 7:30am, practice begins at 8:00-sharp!
*There is not a parent sign-in for you to complete. Students will report to stretch block in the bus parking lot at 8!
*Students get to learn music, marching skills, and connect with their new classmates and section leaders!
WHEN you pick students up or drop them off, for the safety of all students–please DO NOT block the end of the walkway near the band room, follow band parking lot TRAFFIC FLOW—watch for pedestrians, and park vehicles only in designated places. (SEE BELOW)
